Alcohol became a problem for me in my late teenage years, but after suddenly losing my mom in 2024, I fell into full-blown alcoholism. Instead of facing the pain and healing what was happening inside me, I used alcohol to cope. Along the way, I hurt people I loved and burned bridges I never thought I would.

On July 1, 2026, I began my sobriety journey—and my life has been changing ever since.

Today, I’m living in sober living and participating in a recovery program that is helping me build a strong foundation for the future. I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but for the first time, I’m learning to face life instead of drinking my way through it.

I’m grateful for another chance, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Recovery has given me a lot to be grateful for.

As a recovering addict, I’m incredibly thankful for my family and extended family who have continued to stand beside me, support me, and encourage me throughout this journey.

I also want to be a good example and a strong leader for my girlfriend as we walk through recovery together. I know this road isn’t always easy, but I believe the things we overcome can become part of how we help somebody else overcome too.

My goal is bigger than simply staying sober. I want to keep growing, overcome the things that once held me back, and eventually be in a position to serve others and give back.

I’m grateful for another chance. Grateful for the people who haven’t given up on me. Grateful for how far I’ve come and hopeful about where I’m going.

And today, I’m extremely grateful just to be grateful.
